Alma Farias
Alma Farias is an international business development expert focused on two-way trade and investment between Canada and emerging economies. She supports exporters and investors entering the Canadian market by identifying high-potential opportunities and fostering strategic partnerships with buyers, suppliers, and industry associations.
As Managing Director of Trade Partners, a boutique consultancy, Alma leads projects across various sectors, including manufacturing, ICT, and agri-food. She provides customized business support, market intelligence, and liaison services that bridge cultural, institutional, and business gaps.
Alma has developed strong cross-cultural capabilities through years of experience working with corporations in Canada and Latin America. Her practical, results-driven approach has helped companies build sustainable international partnerships. She has also designed and delivered trade missions, business events, and training webinars that connect exporters to the Canadian market.
She has worked with export-ready businesses and trade associations from Canada, Latin America, Asia, and Africa, with a special focus on SMEs and women-owned enterprises. Her approach combines market insights with coaching and tailored strategies.
Currently a Business Development Consultant for TFO Canada, Alma connects international exporters with Canadian buyers. She previously served 10 years as TFO Canada’s Ontario Representative, advising trade commissioners from developing countries and supporting exporters targeting Canada.
Her international experience spans collaboration with exporters from over 20 countries, including Mexico, Colombia, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Alma is a board member of OWIT-Toronto, works with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Monterrey, and advises women’s business groups in Mexico. She also mentors young professionals in international trade.
She is a Chartered Accountant with specialization in Industrial Costing and HR Management. Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Alma is now based in Canada and holds dual citizenship.
Her work has earned her multiple awards, including the JoAnna Townsend Excellence Award, OWIT Woman of the Year (2015), the OHTLI Award from the Government of Mexico and the Maple Award from the Government of Canada.
Gail Morris
Gail Morris has 30 years’ experience working with public and private sectors in North America and other international markets. Gail’s expertise includes trade facilitation and promotion within the CUSMA- USMCA-TMEC countries, Canadian Customs, logistics and business development.
Gail served as Georgia USA’s Managing Director in Trade, Investment and Tourism in Canada from 2010 to 2020. She promoted economic development assisting Georgia SME’s with their export plans to Canada delivering market knowledge webinars, coordinating trade missions to Canadian conferences and trade shows, scheduling market familiarization business meetings with industry experts and associations and planning and executing networking events for Georgia delegations visiting Canada.
Gail encouraged Canadian corporate investment in the state and supported existing Canadian investors with their Georgia expansion plans. Gail participated in industry association events including agri-food and agri-business, consumer products, manufacturing, IT sector trade shows, conferences and board of trade events reaching out to the business communities increasing Canadians’ awareness of Georgia USA. Gail also coordinated tourism and music programming initiatives between Georgia and Canada.
Gail has a qualification certificate with the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers and is a member of Women in Aerospace and the Toronto Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade.
She is fluent in English and French.
Mary has worked in corporations, academia and has also been an entrepreneur; but, she found her passion in running non-profit organizations. Most recently she served as the President WBE Canada a national non-profit organization that links women entrepreneurs with innovative corporations seeking to diversity their supply chain. She was the first woman president to be appointed in the 75-year history of the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters (I.E. Canada), a position she held from 2005 to 2009. She was also President of the Brazil Canada Chamber of Commerce and served as the chair of the board of the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) from 2008 – 2010 where she encouraged young women to enter the field of international business. In 2003 and 2004, she was Co-President of the Toronto Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-Toronto), and has been a mentor to many when it comes to global business.
Mary is known for developing and delivering strategic plans by focussing on creative business solutions.
